The Word Unbroken I

Painting entitled "The Word Unbroken I"

The Word Unbroken I (1997) Acrylic, collage and compressed charcoal on cardboard, 21.7cm x 17.7cm

This painting is created using an amalgamation of preliminary sketches taken from various sources; theatrical performers, people in cafes and workmen up the side of a building with scaffolding. Their various forms were re-imagined within this abstracted arrangement of figures. I wanted to capture the sense of a community represented by the central table (as a symbol of shared ideas) and the visionary figure looking upwards.
